Get packing & finish on time
Packing and moving is a big undertaking. Whether you are moving across the street or across the country, there is a lot of work to do. However, there is no need to fret. Helpful people and equipment are close by to assist you every step of the way. Even if you feel like you are behind schedule with your packing, a few steps will help you complete your packing responsibilities on time.
Assemble your supplies
The last thing you want to do is waste your valuable time trying to track down supplies. Make sure you have more than enough boxes of various sizes and heavy-duty trash bags on hand. Double-check that your tape is plentiful and easy to handle. Get lots of big, bold markers to label your boxes as you pack them.
Stuff your breakable items with packing paper, bubble wrap, or towels. Consider packing items made of fabric, such as clothing and curtains, into heavy-duty trash bags; packing into bags versus boxes will go much faster. Number each box or bag and make an inventory with a line for each and its contents as you pack.
Use smaller boxes
Trying to stuff a lot of heavy items into a large box may seem like a good way to speed up packing. However, you end up with a heavy box that is hard to maneuver and subject to ripping. Smaller boxes are easier to move and more likely to not rip, so they can protect your items throughout the move.
Start in your least-used rooms
Begin sorting through and packing the things that are already packed up, like off-season clothing, holiday decorations, and sporting goods. Next, pack up the guest room and any other room that gets little use.
Pack clothing & personal items like you're going on a trip
Pretend that you are going on a trip for however long your clothing will be boxed and in transit to your new location. Pack the same things that you would need for a trip of that duration. Once that is done, you can pack the remainder of your clothing and personal items from your bedroom and bathroom.
